About Ashley Janelle Rhone
Ashley graduated from the University of Oklahoma-Norman in May 2012 with a Bachelor's degree in International and Area Studies and a minor in French. In June of the following year, she earned a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the School of International Training (Brattleboro, Vermont) in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Though still young, she has had experience both in the United States of America, her native country, and abroad in the Republic of Georgia and Turkey. She is currently teaching English online.
Though her primary focus is on teaching English to adults, Ashley has also taught to children both in America and in the Republic of Georgia. Though her stay in Georgia was not a lengthy one, she gained valuable pedagogical training and experience in teaching grades K-12, as well as to her elderly host mother, in a small village in Eastern Georgia-just 25 miles from the Azerbaijani border and 25 miles from the Russian border. After her return to the States in late 2012, she taught at an early childhood center in Oklahoma City. While there, she became fascinated with how and when English language learners first acquire language and took the first step in answering this question by enrolling and completing her TESOL certification later that summer. Her first professional university teaching experience was in Manisa, Turkey.
Currently, Ashley is the owner and sole teacher of Commint Languages. Ashley created this website, blog, podcasts, and lessons to reach students who may not have adequate access to native English speakers. In the future she hopes to complete a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages and in Teaching French as a Foreign Languages.
